Preservation Bridge Inspection - Birmingham Bridge SAI Consulting Engineers, Inc. has been retained by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to perform selected preservation inspection of the Birmingham Bridge in Allegheny County. The inspection is anticipated to begin on February 3, 2014, and continue for approximately 8 working days. SAI will require the services of a qualified Contractor to provide rigging labor and maintenance and protection of traffic (MPT) while SAI crews perform deck sounding and bridge inspection from the deck. SAI will receive sealed Bids from qualified Contractors until 11:00 a.m. Prevailing Time on Friday, January 17, 2014, at 1350 Penn Avenue, Suite 300, Pittsburgh, PA 15222-4211. Bids received after this time will not be accepted. Complete bid packages may be obtained from SAI at the same address on or after January 8, 2014. Questions should be directed to William Siess, P.E., by email at wsiess@saiengr.com. Bid documents must be secured in person at the above address between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on weekdays. The Contractor must provide evidence of his qualifications by referencing five separate bridge inspection contracts where they provided similar rigging labor and MPT services within the last ten years. Personal references and contact information for the five previous contracts must be provided. The Contractor must be able to provide MPT in strict accordance with PennDOT Publication 213. Multiple setups and MPT will be required on the bridge at the same time. Bids will be opened at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014. Following approval by PennDOT and SAI, the contract will be awarded to the lowest qualified bidder. SAI Consulting Engineers, Inc. reserves the right to reject any or all bids not in conformance with the bid requirements.
